The center of the kitchen is the range. Originally,
Mark and Julie were looking at the Vulcan 60" commercial range with 10
burners (each generating 26,000 btu's) and 2 ovens each capable of
generating 30,000 btu's. But because the Vulcan is a commercial-only
range, it lacks certain safety features--like insulation. The real
problem, though is that the Vulcan uses pilot lights to create ignition
instead of electronic spark ignition. As a result, there are, on the
Vulcan, 12 pilot lights constantly burning. Venting such a range is so
complex and so expensive as to render it impractical for this residential
application.
After investigating a number of alternatives, Mark and Julie settled on the 60" Wolf gas range. It has dual full-size gas convection ovens, and is capable of generating 16,000 btu's per burner on the range-top. In beautiful stainless steel with a stainless riser and shelf, it will show itself off spectacularly in front of the exposed brick of the kitchen walls. |
